Britain’s Got Talent turned a sonsie lass into The Susan Boyle.

Amidst the aroma emanating from the melting pots, Top Chef sniffed out a winner in Vietnamese Hung Hyunh.

Laced with countless catwalks, Project Runway and America’s Next Top Model weaved together competing fashionistas, mannequins and creative beacons to produce one sensational fabric that redefined professional bitchiness.

Now, thanks to this ménage à trois : Sarah Jessica Parker’s Pretty Matches Productions, Magical Elves, Inc and the Bravo network, reality TV has wormed its way into Art World.

Amongst the hundreds of aspiring artists who have responded to casting calls in Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago and New York, only 13 chosen ones will vie for a gallery show, a cash prize and a sponsored national museum tour.

Simon de Pury, chariman of the auction house Phillips de Pury has been named one of the judges amongst a panel that will comprise curators, artists, dealers, teachers and collectors “whose names people in the art world would certainly recognize.” (via New York Times)

Culture vultures, museum addicts, manic collectors and arty farty wannabes, keep one eye glued to your TV guide and cast the other on “America’s Next Warhol.”

thangdynasty is a work-in-progress maintained by an accidental equity trader whose brief foray into the world of investments turned out… not so brief. Although unmotivated by the senseless pursuit of money in and for itself, she remains sadistically intrigued by the complex anatomy stealthily at work behind the whole spectrum of Markets – Fine Art, Financial, Fish and Fools. A budding art collector and supporter of emerging artists, she slogs to prevent collateral damage to her bank account resulting from occasional manic art buying sprees.
