By no decent benchmark a practising Catholic, I nevertheless count my blessings everyday that my bum was not planted in the seat of a poverty zone. It coud easily have been I’m sure.
I’m highlighting this fact in a bid to ease my guilt about declaring that I’m obviously of the Live to Eat breed. How do I know this?
1. Small. Not large.
I prefer petit petit portions of a wide variety of tastes to titillate my senses. Ditch the oversized American cheeseburger and serve me a delightful Dégustation menu instead.
2. Food is Art
In the same way a painter combines different colours on her palette to produce myriad shades, tones and colours that make up a painting, so a Chef uses different spices and ingredients to create divine delicacies.
Whether it’s a tongue-in-cheek Boob Cake, a serious Commitment Cake (lead image) or an elegant Coquille St. Jacques, food is an endless source of creativity.
Speaking of food art, check out this contemporary art installation, Rotating Kitchen, that is being featured at the “Eating the Universe” exhibition at the Gallery of Taxipalais Innsbruck.
“ The exhibition demonstrates the continuing great attraction of the topic of food as a fundamental interface of art and life and its enormous relevance until the present day, especially against the backdrop of issues such as affluence and hunger, the anti-consumerism and anti-globalization movements, modern dietetics and cooking shows, health crazes and fast food. “
Any dish, no matter how foul-tasting, is always the culmination of someone’s effort, time and hardwork. Waste not… though I cannot say, Want not.

Nice spoof on Damien Hirst’s skull. Knowing you, that was intended right..
Can’t say I appreciate that rotating kitchen though. Like… Huh?
